WSC North Teams making noise In State Women's Volleyball Top 25 #3
The rise of the Western State Conference North Division the last few seasons is evident in this week's CCCWVCA State Top 25 Rankings #3.
There are two undefeated squads in the top 10 in #5 Los Angeles Mission (12-0) and #7 Santa Barbara City College (8-0) and perennial playoff contender Moorpark is solid again this season at #15. The 7-team division has a collective 44-20 overall record (.688 win percentage) so far in non-conference action.
Meanwhile, #1 Feather River (16-0) remains undefeated despite a 5-set scare v. unranked Ohlone. Fresno City stays at #2, surving a 5-set marathon v. #9 San Mateo, and #3 San Joaquin Delta also was tested in a 5-set victory over new #8 Taft. The rest of the top 10 includes San Diego Mesa still topping the South Region at #4, undefeated Orange Coast (8-0) at #6, and Pasadena City at #10.
With surprising Antelope Valley at 7-0 under second-year head coach Bailey Green and WSC North LA Pierce 2-0 under new head coach Joseph Arechiga, the state still has six teams without a loss going into this week's play.
Delta tops five teams from the Big 8 Conference in this week's Top 25.
Coach Milestone Alert: Solano head coach Darla Williams collected win #400 at the college in her 23rd season with a sweep over Santa Rosa JC on Sept. 12.
Coach Milestone Alert #2: San Diego Mesa coach Bobbi Jo Stall-Vest earned her 150th victory on Sept. 12 v. Long Beach City.
