Record 104 points by CSM & 8 three's by Jajeh in tourney win over Butte

SAN MATEO -- Gabby Jajeh poured in 26 points, including a school record eight three?s, as host College of San Mateo roared past visiting Butte College, 104-78, in an opening round game of the Tom Martinez Women?s Basketball Invitational Friday night. It was the first 100-point game for the Bulldogs in CSM Coach Michelle Warner?s 18 years at CSM.

  CSM TALLIES 21ST CENTURY RECORD 104 POINTS TO RUN PAST BUTTE (78) IN TOURNEY OPENER

 

SAN MATEO -- Gabby Jajeh poured in 26 points, including a school record eight three's, as host College of San Mateo roared past visiting Butte College, 104-78, in an opening round game of the Tom Martinez Women's Basketball Invitational Friday night. It was the first 100-point game for the Bulldogs in CSM Coach Michelle Warner's 18 years at CSM.

 

Sophia Leon added 17 points and Mariah Elzy added 16 in limited action as the Bulldogs averaged over 30 points for the first three quarters before slowing the pace at the end. It was 93-59 after three periods.

 

Elzy had a double-double, with 10 rebounds. So did Corryne Millett with 12 points and 10 boards. Taylor Cormier had 12 points and eight assists.

 

CSM (7-2) will play Solano College (4-7) in a 7 p.m. semifinal on Saturday. Solano beat Santa Monica, 81-67, in another opener. In the other bracket, Contra Costa defeated Diablo Valley, 78-67, and Shasta downed Reedley, 65-50. Those winners play at 5 p.m. Saturday, following consolation rounds games at 1 and 3 p.m. On Sunday, the third place game is at 1 p.m., followed by the championship game at 3 p.m.

Butte is now 1-10.

 

--Jajeh, a 5-6 freshman guard out of Mercy High (San Francisco), had a previous high game of 17 points and five three's in a 82-46 win over Shasta earlier this month. Warner believes the previous record for most three's in a CSM game was six.

7 p.m., San Mateo (7-2) vs. Solano (4-7)
