Orange Coast College keeps on plugging away in receiving 13 of 15 first-place votes to top this week's CCCWBCA State Top 25 Coaches Poll.
The Pirates (8-0), #4 Palomar (9-0, two first place votes), and unranked Cosumnes River (6-0) remain the only undefeated teams.
Butte is #2 with 358 points, just 12 behind OCC, while San Joaquin Delta moved up two spots to #3 wtih 333, followed by Palomar's 331.
1. Orange Coast, Orange Empire, 8-0: Dating back to last season, the Pirates have won 20 straight games, including a 110-36 win over Rio Hondo, the second largest margin of victory in school history. OCC also defeated #11 Glendale, 71-66. Jordan Arreola had 25 points in the RHC contest. LW: #1
2. Butte, Golden Valley, 10-1: The Roadrunners have won seven straight, including capturing the 46th Sequoias Tom Gilcrest Invitational, handing Delta its first loss, 48-42, in the title game. Jocelyn Medina earned tourney MVP honors. LW: #2T
3. San Joaquin Delta, Big 8, 8-1: The Mustangs settled for second at the Gilcrest tourney. Delta's 8-game win streak was snapped after it beat #5 Mt. San Antonio in the semifinals, 67-59. Serenity Santos made All-Tournament. LW: #5
4. Palomar, Pacific Coast Athletic, 9-0: The Comets won the 40th Cypress Charger Classic, defeating Modesto, 78-61, in the title game. Angeline Valdivia was tourney MVP, scoring 22 points v. MJC. LW: #4
5. Mt. San Antonio, South Coast North, 5-2: The Mounties took third place at the Gilcrest invite with a 72-62 win over host Sequoias. Dailani Richardson scored 49 points in three games. LW: #2T
6. Santa Rosa JC, Big 8, 6-1: Six consecutive wins now by the Bear Cubs, who beat #12 Chabot, 70-61, behind 12 points and 13 rebounds by Ivy Gonzalez. LW: #6
7. Moorpark, Western State North, 7-3: The Raiders won the consolation title at the Gilcrest tourney, beating Chabot 56-47 in the fifth place final. Rebecca Saidoff scored 49 points in three contests. LW: #7
8. CC San Francisco, Coast North, 6-1: The Rams are on a 5-game win streak, beating #16 Sierra, 71-68 in overtime for the Napa Valley Storm Surge Classic title. Aaliyah Davis was tourney MVP, scoring 20 in the finals. LW: #10
9. Irvine Valley, Orange Empire, 6-1: The Lasers had a 6-game win string to open the season stopped by #18 Long Beach, 60-52. They were 3-0 at the El Camino Crossover tourney. Emily Freeman scored 20 points in an 85-37 win over host ECC. LW: #8
10. Fresno CC, Central Valley, 7-2: The Rams finished 3-0 at the Allan Hancock Toys for Tots Tournament, beating host AHC, 80-62, in the finale. Madison Johnson totaled 54 points, 11 assists and 11 steals in the three wins. LW: #14.
11. Glendale, Western State South, 5-2: The Vaqueros lost to #1 Orange Coast by just five points in the OCC Crossover after defeating #18 Long Beach, 64-48. Patil Yaacoubian supplied 21 points off the bench in the two contests. LW: #18
12. Chabot, Coast North, 7-3: The Gladiators had a 6-game win streak broken by SRJC, 70-61, then finished 1-2 at the Gilcrest tourney. Alexa Pleschette scored 26 points in an 82-80 overtime win over LA Valley. LW: #9
13. Folsom Lake, Big 8, 6-4: The Falcons lost to #10 Fresno, 68-66, then notched wins over Allan Hancock, 73-60, and past Cerritos, 76-27, at the Toys for Tots tourney. Corrie Harrison scored 47 points and grabbed 28 rebounds in the last three games. LW: #11
14. Laney, Bay Valley, 3-2: The Eagles edged Modesto, 59-58, behind 21 points and five steals by Leniyah Fulsome. LW: #15
15. Mt. San Jacinto, Inland Empire Athletic, 5-2: MSJC went 2-0 at their Eagle Invitational, defeating LA Harbor, 72-64 in overtime. Lauren Pagtakhan hit a layup with seven seconds left to sent it to OT and finished with 25 points (seven 3s). LW: #14
16. Sierra, Big 8, 5-3: The Wolverines settled for second on that Napa tourney with their loss to CCSF, but routed both Gavilan, 91-15, and Siskiyous, 70-49. All-Tourney LaAundra Walker-Brown totaled 39 points, 19 rebounds, 15 assists, and 15 steals. LW: #17
17. Ventura, Western State North, 6-3: The Pirates have lost three straight since a 6-0 start, all at the Gilcrest Invitational. One of the defeats was 82-52 v. WSC rival Moorpark. Tiernan Phillps scored 30 points at the tourney. LW: #12
18. Long Beach City, South Coast South, 5-5: The Vikings have won three of their last four, including the upset over Irvine Valley. Kimberly Cruz-Martinez has 25 points, 15 steals and 14 assists in her last three games. LW: #19
19. Victor Valley, Inland Empire Athletic, 9-2: The Rams have won four straight, including 2-0 at the MSJC tourney. Karoline Ellison has 37 points, 32 rebounds, and 12 assists in the last three triumphs. LW: #21
20. East Los Angeles, South Coast North, 5-5: The Huskies have won just one of their last six contests, losing two close ones at the Cypress tourney, 67-64 to Modesto in overtime and 73-71 v. Citrus. Asiah (Asia) Harris scored 39 points and grabbed 23 boards at the tourney. LW: #13
21. San Mateo, Coast North, 10-1: The Bulldogs are on a 9-game win streak, including going 3-0 at the Shasta Knights Crossover. Deanna Ayao scored 20 points in a 67-44 win over Lassen. LW: #18
22. Sequoias, Central Valley, 7-5: The Giants were 1-2 at their hosted Gilcrest Invite, including losses to #2 Butte, 73-55, and #5 Mt. SAC, 72-62, and a win over #17 Ventura, 62-51. Kyla Wandick scored 43 points in the three games. LW: #23
23. Pasadena City, South Coast North, 7-2: The Lancers go 3-0 at the Santa Ana Tournament, including an 81-73 OT win over San Diego Mesa. Lamia "MJ" Daley was MVP of the tourney, totaling 68 points, 31 rebounds and 17 assists in the three victories. LW: #25
24. San Jose City, Coast South, 7-2: The Jaguars went 2-1 at the Napa tourney, defeating Foothill, 86-34, in the finale. Tatiana Collazo scored 34 points in the triumph. LW: #22
25. Imperial Valley, Pacific Coast Athletic, 9-1: The Desert Warriors have won five in a row, including a 61-47 win over San Bernardino Valley. Amy Riley has 34 points and 30 rebounds in the last three wins. LW: #24
