Sierra, Monterey Peninsula make leaps in latest 3CFCA rankings
American River and Fullerton make their debuts.
AZUSA, CA — The Sierra College Wolverines and Monterey Peninsula Lobos jumped into the top-5 in the latest California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association (3CFCA) state rankings.
Sierra moves to No. 3 after posting a perfect 5-0 week with a pair of wins over No. 13 Butte and No. 15 Fresno City to move to 7-0 overall. The Wolverines head into the toughest stretch of their schedule yet when they face No. 7 San Jose and No. 2 San Mateo.
The Lobos had an equally impressive week winning all three of their matchups including a 3-2 victory over No. 17 Folsom Lake.
For the second week in a row, Mt. San Antonio College and San Mateo hold on to the top-two spots. Mt. SAC won three games including two over ranked opponents No. 14 Canyons and No. 12 Ventura. San Mateo stayed busy with a 5-0 week including a 5-1 win against Folsom Lake.
Ventura made the biggest leap in this week's rankings jumping up five spots to No. 12. The Pirates split games with No. 9 Santiago Canyon and edged No. 15 Bakersfield 4-3.
No. 18 American River and No. 20 Fullerton both debuted in the state rankings. The Beavers won a pair of games to improve to 3-1 and Fullerton pulled out an 8-2 win over Southwestern in their season opener.
