Stephanie Cantu's run-scoring single in the bottom of the eighth inning lifted Reedley College to a Central Valley Conference championship-clinching 6-5 victory over Fresno City in the opener of a softball doubleheader Tuesday.
Cantu and Marissa Rendon each hit home runs for the Tigers (21-17, 15-3), who won their first CVC title since 2011 while finishing one game ahead of the Northern California No. 7 Rams (25-13, 14-4).
Fresno City won the second game 7-4 behind a two-run home run from Dana Moritz and three RBIs from Adriana Bencomo.
Northern and Southern California Regional playoff seedings are scheduled to be announced Saturday, with opening-round games May 3-4.
