SARATOGA, Calif – Palomar won its fourth-straight to move on to the state championship game, beating Yuba 10-1 in six innings.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Nevaeh Haywood continued her dominance in the circle. She's allowed just two runs over the last four games of the tournament.
Both Haywood and Danni Farris started off strong as just one hitter reached base through the first two-and-a-half innings, but the Comets exploded for six runs in the bottom of the third.
Josephine Heuberger completed her cycle for the day with a three-run homer. The lefty had three hits, a single, double and triple in Palomar's first game of the day. Heuberger finished with another multi-hit game.
Later in the inning, Alexis Huey tripled home a pair on a ball that bounced off the wall in center field. The deepest part of the park, Huey hit it nearly 220 feet to dead center. One batter later, Isabella DeFilippis hit a triple of her own. That one sent Huey to the plate and capped off the six-run frame.
Haywood took a no-hitter into the fifth inning, but a walk and RBI triple off the bat of Kloe Siepert, stifled her no-hit attempt. She finished the game with a complete game, giving up two hits while striking out four.
