Cerritos upsets North No. 1 Seed Sierra, 8-6
Cerritos will face South Coast Conference rival Mt. SAC tomorrow and Sierra will play San Jose in an elimination game.
WALNUT, CA — Cerritos College, scored four runs in the fifth inning to break a 4-4 tie and held on to to upset North No. 1 Seed Sierra, 8-6, in game two of the 3C2A Softball State Championship Thursday.
The Falcons' (32-14), end of the regular season hot streak carried over to the State Championship as eight batters in the lineup recorded a hit.
No. 4 South Seed Cerritos will play South Coast Rival and South No. 2 Seed Mt. SAC Friday at 11:00 a.m., while Sierra (42-4) will play an elimination game against South No. 3 Seed San Jose Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Citrus College.

The Falcons took an early 2-0 lead in the second inning on a sacrifice fly by Marley Manalo and an RBI single by Maddy Guillen that scored Brooklyn Bedolla.
Sierra answered with two runs in the bottom half of the inning on RBI singles by Eliana Enriquez and Haleigh Barlow to tie the game at 2-2.
Cerritos retook the lead in the top of the fourth inning off a two-run double by Manalo that plated Bedolla and Natalie Basurto.

Sierra responded for the second time in the game and came right back with two runs on back-to-back RBI doubles by Faith Matis and Kayley Vaillette to tie the game 4-4.
Cerritos took the lead for good in the fifth inning with four runs on five hits, including four-straight singles to start the inning by Alyssa Sotelo, Jazmine Macias, Richere Leduc, and Jimena Velazquez. Velazquez finished the game with one RBI, one hit, three walks, and two runs.
Enriquez led the Wolverines with a 3-3 performance at the plate including a triple, double, and a walk with two RBIs.
Sophomore right-hander Samantha Islas pitched a complete game for the Falcons and improved to 21-7.
