NO. 1 CSM CLOSES HOME SOFTBALL CAMPAIGN WITH 9-0 ROMP OVER MISSION

SAN MATEO -- Aracely Osuna hit a pair of doubles, knocked in two runs and scored a run as state top-ranked College of San Mateo closed out its home regular softball season with a 9-0, 5-inning romp over Mission College Tuesday afternoon. CSM remains the state's winningest team at 33-2, 11-1 in Coast North play. No other team has yet hit the 30-win plateau.
Winless Mission fell to 0-19 and 0-13.
Joining Hillsdale grad Osuna in celebrating sophomore day was Natalie Saucedo (Burlingame High), who also doubled, had two RBIs, and scored a run. Kelly McDaid (Capuchino) went 2-for-3 at the plate, scored two runs, and had an RBI. Talisa Fiame (Terra Nova) and Lelani Akai (Moreau Catholic) each contributed a pair of hits to San Mateo's 14-hit outburst in the short game.
Sohpmoroe Ashley Miller (Woodside) got her fifth win against no losses, giving up just one hit and striking out four in a three-inning stint. Ashlynne Neil (Winters) and Lauren Berriatua (Notre Dame Belmont) each pitched a perfect frame in relief
CSM extended its "new" win streak to three games after seeing it modern day school record skein stopped at 26 games last week.
The Bulldogs play their final non-conference game Thursday at state No. 13 Sacramento City College (24-8, 12-2 in the Big Eight Conference). The Panthers have a four-game win streak and have won nine of their last ten contests.
CSM still has three Coast road games remaining before opening state regional playoffs with an expected home series the first weekend of May. San Mateo plays at De Anza April 15, at second place (two games back) Ohlone, April 17, and closes at City College of San Francisco on April 22.
