Undefeated records are common theme among top three teams in men's volleyball poll
IRVINE - The top three teams in the state all stayed undefeated headed into the fourth week of the season with San Diego Mesa moving past Orange Coast and into the No. 1 spot.
Mesa won a pair of matches, including taking down No. 4 Moorpark, 25-18, 25-15, 29-31, 25-21, on Friday. Mesa hit .368 as a team in the match and was led by Trevor Clark with 20 kills, Logan Shepard with 44 assists and Rylan Koser with 14 digs.
Orange Coast came in at No. 2 after sweeping Long Beach City and Santa Monica. In the win over Santa Monica, OCC hit .344 as a team. Eight different Pirate players recorded at least one kill.
Golden West also had two sweeps, beating El Camino and Fullerton.
Moorpark bounced back on Friday with a sweep over Miramar on the road.
Golden West hit an impressive .508 as a team in the 25-20, 25-16, 25-16 victory over Fullerton.
Moorpark and Irvine Valley rounded out the top five in the rankings.

Cameron Taylor – Santa Monica, sophomore outside hitter
Taylor had a breakout match against Palomar to give Santa Monica its first win of the 2025 season on Feb. 5. In the 28-26, 24-26, 25-23, 25-16 victory, he recorded a double-double with 19 kills (hitting .310) and 17 digs. He also helped SMC capture its second straight victory two days later against Grossmont. And he followed that up last Wednesday with nine kills and seven digs in the Corsairs 25-13, 25-19, 25-16 win at home over Santiago Canyon.
