Saddleback College sports information director Brad Hoiseth is the 2026 recipient of the Brass Top Award, an annual honor for meritorious work in the profession as selected by his peers in the California Community College Sports Information Association (CCCSIA).
Hoiseth will accept the Brass Top at the 3C2A Annual Convention as part of the Honoring Our Own banquet on Thursday, April 2 at the Los Angeles Marriot Burbank Airport. He is the 25th winner of the honor, first awarded in 2001. He has the distinction of being the second Saddleback SID to win the Brass Top, the other Jerry Hannula in 2002.
Hoiseth served as an assistant at Saddleback starting in 2007 and officially became the full-time SID in 2019.
Since arriving, Hoiseth has introduced new technology to the Bobcats website, using the latest in social networking applications as well as the latest in graphics design platforms.
He has served as the play-by-play voice for football and basketball for years, while also performing public address announcer duties at home basketball, football, soccer, softball and baseball games.
Hoiseth has also taken on other roles in the sports information department such as records keeping, digital archives, and generating content for media guides and brochures. He is solely responsible for all the content on the website and social media platforms. He also started an annual report of scholarship monies awarded to Saddleback student-athletes, the report is used by the president of the college at commencement ceremonies and has been utilized by athletic administrators as well.
Besides his duties at Saddleback, Hoiseth took on the role as the conference representative for women's soccer on the Orange Empire Conference website in 2016, generating articles to promote the sport. Since then, he has also taken on water polo and swimming for the OEC. He previously served as the lead publicist for the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference for three years, promoting the athletes and programs.
Hoiseth has worked various 3C2A state tournaments, including baseball, basketball, soccer, football and track and field, in service for the SIA. He regularly updates social media analytical numbers for all the colleges to help visibility for the association.
Hoiseth has been in the sports information/public relations industry since the mid 1990s, performing a variety of roles. He was the SID for the Rancho Santiago Community College District, Santa Ana College and Santiago Canyon from 2000-2003, earning top new website in the state honors from the Community College Public Relations Organization (CCPRO) in 2002.
In addition to his roles in sports information, Hoiseth has been involved with the promotion of community college football as the owner and publisher of JCGridiron.com, an online publication on the On3 and Rivals.com Network. This role earned him a spot on the popular Netflix series Last Chance U, where he was featured in five episodes of the show in season five (Laney College). His work In the field of community college football has also been featured in a variety of magazines and newspapers in his 20 plus years in the industry.
Hoiseth graduated from Saddleback College in 1998 with an A.A. Degree in broadcast communications. He received a bachelor's in broadcast journalism from Cal State Fullerton in 1999.
