Two CCC Women's Basketball Players Selected WBCA All-Americans
For the first time in 22 years, two California Community College women's basketball players were chosen to the 2026 WBCA Two-Year College Coaches' All-American Team.
3C2A State Tourney MVP and San Joaquin Delta sophomore guard Aaliyah Youngblood and SoCal Player of the Year and Mt. San Antonio sophomore forward Taliyah McFerson made the elite, 10-player squad.
Last month, Youngblood led Delta to its first-ever 3C2A state championship in the sport while McFerson was a 2-time, All-State First Team selection who helped Mt. SAC win the 2025 state title.
In 2004, a historic three players were honored from CCC's (see list at bottom of release) including Mt. SAC's Anetero Uiagalelei, the MVP of that year's state tourney. Just 24 All-Americans in the 44-year history of the WBCA awards are from California colleges with two 2-time selections in Mt. SAC's Daisia Mitchell (2024-25) and Contra Costa's Iman Young (2001-02).
McFerson passed the 1,000-point milestone in her two seasons for the Mounties, was the MVP of the South Coast Conference North Division, and played on a Mt. SAC team that was state No. 1-ranked the entire '25-26 regular season.
At 5-foot-10 in height and from Lynwood High, McFerson averaged 17 points, 10.2 rebounds in the regular season and led the entire 11-team SCC in field goal percentage at a 62.5 percent accuracy. She finished second in the state in that statistical category. She played under the direction of Mt. SAC head coach Brian Crichlow, an architect as first an assistant and then HC of a CCC record nine state championships.
The 5-8 Youngblood, from Monterey Trail High in Elk Grove, averaged 16.9 points, 2.8 assists and was one of the state's best defensive talents as she third in the state in steals with 117 (3.5 average). She made 74 percent of her free throws. Youngblood is just the second Delta player to be honored as All-American and has already committed to play to continue her college career at Indiana State University.
At the state tourney held at College of the Sequoias Mar. 12-15, she scored 20 points and dished out six assists in the title game when she helped rally the Mustangs from a 20-point deficit to defeat MiraCosta, 76-71. She played under the direction of legendary Delta head coach Gina Johnson.
All-American Honorable Mentions went to Folsom Lake's Jada Tupou, Butte's Marissa Elizalde and Cypress' Christaesha Jackson.
