2016 3CFCA Player, Pitcher, and Coach of the Year and All-State and All-Region Teams Announced
The 2016 California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association named their Player, Pitcher, and Coach of the Year on Saturday afternoon. In addition, the All-State and All-Region teams were announced.
The 2016 Players of the Year are sophomores Harlee Donovan of College of San Mateo and Taylor Pierce of Cypress College.
Donovan, an All-State selection as a freshman, hit .448 with a .576 on-base percentage and a 1.026 slugging percentage. Donovan drove in 55 RBIs, swatted 16 home runs, hit 11 doubles, and four triples. Donovan scored 56 runs, and stole five bases. On defense, Donovan was near perfect in the field, posting a .977 fielding percentage.
Pierce, was also an All-State selection as a freshman, hit .452 with a .567 on-base percentage, and a .763 slugging percentage. Pierce drove in 41 runs, scored 31, hit nine doubles, one triple, and six home runs. Pierce also went 14-3 in the circle, with a 1.90 ERA, and 85 K's in 110 innings of work.
The 2016 Pitchers of the Year were sophomore Sarah Santana of Fresno City College and freshman Tiffany Kennedy-Cummings of Mt. San Antonio College.
Santana went 34-4 in the circle, with a 1.94 ERA, fanning 98 batters. Santana was also the leading hitter for the Rams, batting .489 with a .521 on-base percentage, and .855 slugging percentage. Santana drove in 59 runs, scored 52 runs, hit 13 home runs and nine doubles.
Kennedy-Cummings was 13-2 with a pair of saves for the Mounties. She posted a 0.94 ERA, and averaged more than a strikeout an inning, after sitting down 113 batters. Her ERA was the second lowest in the entire State and first in Southern California.
The Northern California representative for Coach of the Year was Rhonda Williams of Fresno City College, while Cypress College's Brad Pickler was the SoCal Coach of the Year honoree. Williams led the Rams to the Central Valley Conference Championship a 35-4 overall record and #2 overall seed in Northern California. Pickler, arguably the most decorated coach in Southern California community college softball, earned the honors after the taking his Chargers to another Orange Empire Conference Championship, 35-5.
