Sophomore Power Hitters Are 3C2AWVCA Players of the Week #2

Los Angeles Mission College outside hitter Madison Perry, San Mateo opposite Synia Hunt, and Santa Monica OH Mia Michele Whitlock were selected as the 3C2AWVCA State Players of the Week #2 by the coaches association committee.

Perry, a 5-foot-9 sophomore from Freedom High in Oakley, crushed 55 kills in three matches to help LA Mission to win its Eagle Midway Showdown tournament. In a 4-set championship final win over El Camino, she slammed 21 kills, served seven aces and made two blocks. She also had 21 kills and hit .472 in a sweep over Riverside City.

Perry's 5-kills-a-set average leads the state.

Hunt, a 5-10 sophomore from Saint Mary's High in Stockton, helped San Mateo to a 4-0 record at the 3rd NorCal v. SoCal Showcase held at Fresno City College on Sept. 4-5. Named to the All N-S Showcase Team, the returning All-Northern California Region selection scored 15 kills in a 4-set win over Long Beach. She totaled 47 kills at the tourney.

Whitlock, a 5-10 sophomore from Burlington-Edison High in Washington, is starting 2026 with a bang after excelling at last year's 3C2A State Tournament.

She totaled 51 kills and 39 digs in four SMC victories last week including a monster performance in a 5-set win over Ventura. She delivered 23 kills (.340), 16 digs, served six aces, and made five blocks (three solos) in totaling 32.5 points. 

Whitlock is the second Corsair to be named POTW in two weeks after Quinci Wilder won in Week #1.
