Fresno's Soares Soars As Part Of The 3C2AWVCA Players of the Week #1

Fresno City College outside hitter Kalani Soares, Feather River middle blocker Shelby Nussle, and Santa Monica OH Quinci Wilder are the first 3C2AWVCA State Players of the Week in the 2026 season.

Soares, a 5-foot-8 sophomore pin from Clovis West High, landed 42 kills in three Rams victories during the opening week Aug. 27-31. She added 35 digs, three aces and four blocks while hitting .333. In a 4-set win over San Mateo, she totaled 16 kills and 14 digs.

Nussle, a 6-1 sophomore local product out of Quincy High, rocked 35 kills and made eight blocks, hitting at an exceptional .611 clip (just two errors in 54 attacks) during four FRC victories. In a 4-set, Golden Eagles triumph over American River, she scored 14 kills and four blocks.

Wilder, a 5-10 talent from Auburn Riverside High and nearby Tacoma, Washington, pounded 37 kills in two SMC sweeps. She scored 24 kills and hit .667 in just 30 swings in a win over Reedley. She totaled 11 digs and two solo blocks in two matches.
