Feather River women's volleyball's Chloe Albiez named AVCA National Player of the Year
Chloe Albiez' decorated women's volleyball community college career had one more accolade added to her trophy mantle as the Feather River College sophomore outside hitter was named the 2025 AVCA National Player of the Year for 2-year colleges.
Albiez helped the Golden Eagles make history Dec. 5-7 at Folsom Lake College when she was MVP of the first North Region team to ever win back-to-back 3C2A state championships.
The 6-foot product of Trinity High in Weaverville, Calif., weaved her own holy niche as she becoming just the fourth student-athlete in history to be selected the state tournament top player, joining elite company in Orange Coast's Kiwi Winkler (2005-2006), and Golden West's Ashley Jensen (2002-2003) and Mariah Marquis (1996-1997).
She is also just the third California Community College player named AVCA National Player of the Year and the first since Irvine Valley's Annie Mitchem won in both 2013-2014. Golden West's Jessica Lee won the award in 1993.
Albiez totaled 56 kills, 29 digs, and five aces in FRC's three tourney wins. She led the state in overall kills with 513 in 38 matches, hitting .293, averaging 2.46 digs per set, and posting 55 blocks. Albiez scored double figures in kills 28 times in the '25 season.
Under the direction of head coach Sarah Ritchie, Albiez helped the Golden Eagles achieve a 68-8 overall record (.895 win percentage) in her two seasons.
Albiez is mulling over university scholarship offers, receiving interest from such schools as NCAA Division I Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Nevada Reno, East Texas A&M, Northern Arizona, and Montana State.
