 CSM SWEEPS 3 FOES IN TOM MARTINEZ INVITATIONAL

SAN MATEO – Trailing 17-16 at the beginning of the second period, College of San Mateo put on an 18-1 run to take a 61-48 victory over visiting Reedley College Friday night in their final game of the Tom Martinez Women's Basketball Invitational at College Heights Gymnasium.

Courtney Townsend had a double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds. Coral Yu added 14 points (including a pair of 3's). Miracle Evans added an even dozen points. Ava Agustin had eight assists and two steals, along with six points.

CSM (7-6) won all three of its games in the prescheduled event to take a winning record into the Christmas break. The Bulldogs had to play their game vs. Merritt, scheduled for Saturday, on Monday – and won easily, 79-54. The Thunderbirds open Bay Valley Conference play on Saturday.

San Mateo will play two more non-conference games after Christmas in a 4-team event at Gavilan College, facing Taft on Dec. 28 and Porterville on Dec. 29. The Bulldogs open Coast North Conference play at home on Jan. 3, hosting Mission at 6 p.m., before hosting the college's first women's/men's doubleheader against county rival Skyline on Jan. 8.
