Same top three, shake ups in the south
LOS ANGELES, Calif. – No. 1 San Mateo remains undefeated and leads the way in week ten of the California Community College Fastpitch Coaches’ Association Coaches’ Poll.
The Bulldogs are the first team in the state to reach the 30-win mark. They’re 31-0 on the season with four wins last week, most notably notching a run-rule win over No. 16 Cabrillo, 9-0 in five innings on March 26.
The south has turned into a juggernaut with nine teams over 20 wins on the season and four knocking on the door with 19. No. 10 San Diego Mesa makes the largest leap in the region. It’s the first time all season the Olympians have made it into the top 10. Led by Olivia Anderson, they’ve won six-straight including a doubleheader sweep of No. 12 Cypress and single-game win over No. 7 Mt. San Antonio.
No. 18 Citrus returns to the poll after falling out in week nine. The Owls earned a big win over No. 6 Fullerton in extra innings, spearheaded by a 5-for-5 performance from the state’s Player of the Week, Grace Twente.
