San Mateo is Back on Top of State Poll; San Joaquin Delta and Santa Ana Make Big Moves
GLENDORA - For the first time in 2019, the College of San Mateo Bulldogs are the #1 team in the State. CSM, which is home to the State longest current winning streak at 15 games, held off SoCal #1 Mt. San Antonio College for the top spot in the State. The Mounties meanwhile, dropped to #2 in the State, while hanging on to the #1 ranking in the South. They were followed by Cypress College, San Joaquin Delta College, and Santa Ana College in the State rankings.
Delta and Santa Ana were by far the biggest movers in the latest iteration of the 3CFCA Coaches Poll. The Mustangs out of Stockton, have won eight of their last ten, and have an early half-game lead in the always tough Big 8 Conference. The Dons of Santa Ana meanwhile, are riding high off a 6-5 victory over Mt. SAC last week, and have won five of their last six games, that includes the win over the Mounties and a pair of victories over Orange Empire Conference rival and State #15 Santiago Canyon College.
There are only two new teams in the poll this week, on each from the North and the South. College of the Sequoias, who was unranked last time around but received votes, checks in at #10 in the North, while Long Beach City College, went from unranked but receiving votes and jumped all the way up to #6 in the South. The Vikings were also able to make their way into the State poll sitting at #12.
