The California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association is pleased to announce it's Week #4 State Player and Pitcher of the Week. Cabrillo College's Taylor Tessier was named the State Pitcher of the Week, while College of the Canyons' Lauren Anderson is the State Player of the Week.
Player of the Week – Lauren Anderson – College of the Canyons
College of the Canyons sophomore catcher Lauren Anderson enjoyed a terrific week wreaking havoc with the bat and calling shutouts from behind the plate. On Friday, Anderson went 2-for-4 with a home run in COC's 4-3 win at State #7 Cerritos. Later in the week, the sophomore backstop went 3-for-4 with another home run and caught five strong innings in the Cougars' 5-0 shutout of Southwestern College. Later that afternoon Anderson was at it again, finishing the game 3-for-3 with two more home runs, four RBIs and four runs scored, all while catching her second shutout of the day in COC's 16-0 win over Moorpark. In her last three games Anderson is batting .727 with three home runs, six RBIs, seven runs. Anderson prepped at Hart High School in Valencia, CA.
Pitcher of the Week – Taylor Tessier – Cabrillo College
Sophomore pitcher Taylor Tessier had an impressive week in the circle. On the week, Tessier appeared in five games, with three starts and two relief appearances. She went 4-0 on the week, tossed two shutouts and a no-hitter. She pitched a total of 23.1 innings on the week, allowing just six hits, four walks, three runs, only two of which were earned.
