Chaffey College alum Khallifah Rosser set to compete at World Track and Field Championships
EUGENE, Ore. - Former CCCAA track and field champion Khallifah Rosser will race on one of the biggest stages in the sport this weekend when the Chaffey College alum competes in the men's 400-meter hurdles during the World Athletics Championships at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon.
Rosser enters the championships in top form after running a personal-best 47.65 seconds at the USATF Championships, also at Oregon, on June 26. That meet determined the USA's team for the World Championships. Rosser finished third overall in the event which was won by Rai Benjamin and helped him to his current world ranking of eighth.
Rosser captured the event at the 2013 CCCAA Championships at the College of San Mateo with a time of 52.08. He helped Chaffey finish 16th as a team.
The CCCAA was well-represented at the USATF Championships in June with the current and former student-athletes listed below competing. Among those was Mt. San Antonio College freshman Marcus Monroe, who finished second in the high jump at the CCCAA Championships this May. Monroe cleared 6 feet, 11.5 inches - eclipsing his CCCAA mark by nearly three inches - to beat Aaron Kim of UCLA by almost an inch and capture the USATF Under 20 title.
