LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles City College mens' soccer team offense continues to struggle as the Cubs tied a scoreless match against Glendale Community College at home on Friday night. Defensively, LACC has performed well, having two shutouts in five games and have a record of zero wins, three draws and two losses. But the offense has yet to deliver with only 3 goals in five games, two of those goals scored by midfielders. One of the clearest chances by the Cubs was in the first half when Ivan Castrejon was found alone in the box but was denied by the Vaqueros defense. As LACC seemed to build momentum on the attack the match was stopped for thirty minutes in the second half after a Glendale defender unfortunately suffered a dislocated shoulder. When the match was resumed LACC went on the attack again and was close to scoring but Felipe Alvarez's shot missed by inches. Led by defender Marc Figueroa and Juan Felix, the LACC defense looked solid and continues to improve, although they do miss defender Ryan Couso, who is out for a couple weeks due to injury. After ninety minutes of stalemate the ref blew the final whistle and LACC were left still looking for their first win of the season. The Cubs are confident that the goals will come sooner than later and are patiently waiting. They now will travel next Tuesday, September 14th, to Citrus College, in search of their first historic win.
