Felix, McKenna are top players for the week; Cypress remains atop the poll
GLENDORA, Calif. - The California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association is pleased to announce its Week #3 State Player and Pitcher of the Week. Mt. San Antonio College sophomore shortstop Carissa Felix and Bakersfield College sophomore pitcher McKenna Valencia earned the honors. Meanwhile, the reigning CCCAA state champs, Cypress College, remains on top of the California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association State and Southern California polls. The Chargers have won 58 straight games dating back to last season.
College of San Mateo took over the top spot in the north and checked in at second in the state. Sierra College was No. 3 in the state and No. 2 in the north, while Mt. San Antonio College rounded out the top four in the state, and was ranked No. 2 in Southern California. Santiago Canyon College and Feather River College each rose one spot in the state rankings to Nos. 5 and 6, respectively. El Camino College and Riverside City College are two new schools in this poll's state tp[10, checking in at No. 8 and No.9.

Pitcher of the Week – McKenna Valencia – Bakersfield College
Valencia had a strong week in the circle and at the plate for the Renegades who went 3-1 on the week, with their lone loss a close 7-4 setback with state No. 3 College of San Mateo. Valencia went a combined 9-for-14 (.642) at the plate, driving in seven runs while hitting a pair of doubles and a home run. In the circle, she was 1-0 with 10 strikeouts while getting a complete-game victory over West Hills College Coalinga to begin the week. The sophomore prepped at Stockdale High School in Bakersfield.
Player of the Week - Carissa Felix - Mt. San Antonio College
Felix helped guide the Mounties to a perfect 4-0 week that featured a win over atate No. 2 Sierra College, SoCal No. 7 El Camino College, and unranked, but receiving votes, Riverside City College. For the week, Felix went 9-for-12 with six RBIs and four doubles. She also had a strong week in the field with three putouts and six assists. Felix prepped at Ontario High School and hails from Montclair.
