LBCC, GWC Remain Only Undefeated Teams In The SCFA
While Northern California was on a bye this past weekend, many teams in the Southern California Football Association wrapped up their week 6 on Saturday, four undefeated teams went into the weekend with only two remaining. Long Beach City College (6-0) staged a 17 point comeback beginning in the second quarter, putting up 20 unanswered points to defeat Allan Hancock 20-17 at home. AHC drops to 3-2 with the loss.
In another tight game, Golden West improves to 6-0 after grabbing an early 20-0 lead in the first quarter, and leaning on their defense to defeat Ventura, 30-23. VC falls to an even 3-3 on the season.
With previously topped ranked Riverside and Canyons losing over the weekend, the Rustlers and Vikings remain the only two undefeated teams in the SCFA National Divisions. RCC faced Fullerton and couldn't contain the Hornets offense as they put up 52 points to the Tigers 21. Fullerton improves their record to 3-3 while RCC is now 4-1. Canyons suffered a similar fate at Saddleback College where the Gauchos won their fourth straight game with a 19-3 win. Saddleback is hitting their stride as they improve to 4-2 and Canyons falls to 5-1.
With the NCFC being on bye over the weekend there will be no new regional rankings released this week, after what would be a shaken up Southern CA National Division. Regional polls will resume again next Monday, October 19.
