CORNELL, ARMENDARIZ GARNER CCCWVCA STATE PLAYER OF THE WEEK RECOGNITION
PASADENA - Middle blocker Jacey Cornell from Butte College and sophomore setter Sarah Armendariz of Bakersfield College earned distinction on Monday from the CCCWVCA by earning Northern California and Southern California State Player of the Week honors, respectively, it's been announced.
Cornell has been a consistent figure at the net for Butte this season. She had nine kills and four blocks while hitting .429 in a sweep over Lassen. She recorded six blocks (three solos) and four kills in a 4-set loss to Feather River. She is currently 14th in the state in blocks average per set.
Armendariz runs the Bakersfield offense and has helped the Renegades to an impressive 15-match win streak. She dished out 52 assists and made 10 kills in the team’s last two victories, both sweeps. Currently, she is fifth in the state in assists average at 10.28 per set.
