vs. Cabrillo: The Brahmas avenged their loss to Cabrillo in last year's State Finals and swept the Lady Seahawks (25-20, 25-17, 25-23) in one of the best matches this season. The Brahmas dominated the net with hitting and blocking by out hitting the Seahawks 42 kills to 25 kills and 9 stuff blocks to 3 for Cabrillo. Sophomore outside hitter, Cassidy Rosso, led the teams with 13 kills. After having to wait three weeks to become eligible, freshman middle blocker, Cairo Harrell, had her best performance of the season with 10 kills and 4 blocks. Freshman libero, Julia Izquierdo, led the team with 16 digs and added three aces.
vs. American River: Sophomore middle blocker, Shanon Volpis, had her best performance of the year amassing 12 kills. Sophomore setter/opp, Hayley Alvarez, had her best hitting performance of the year with 11 kills and 4 aces. American River proved to be a worthy opponent as they were outstanding on defense and made the Brahmas work and earn every point. The Brahmas made more errors than the Beavers but out hit them and won the serving and passing battle. Sophomore setter and captain, Peyton Moyles, continues to have a stellar season and proving night in and night out as one of the best setters in the state. It was a test of willpower and mental toughness for the Brahmas having to play back to back matches against two good teams.
This weekend, the Brahmas will host its Seventh Annual Pierce Invitational which kicks off at 4 PM with four matches total on Friday in both the North and the South gyms. Pierce is ranked No. 1 in the tournament and the teams that are participating are: Pierce, Santa Barbara, San Diego Mesa, Moorpark, Gavilan, Bakersfield, Butte, West LA.
