San Joaquin Delta, Saddleback and Santiago Canyon hold down top three in CCCSIA Women's Soccer Poll
SAN BERNARDINO - And then there was one.
Going into the last week of regular season action, there is only one team without a loss and one team alone at the top of the weekly CCCSIA Women’s Soccer poll.
San Joaquin Delta College (17-0-1) received all eight first place votes in the weekly poll of sports information professionals, becoming the unanimous choice after weeks of splitting votes with now No. 3 Santiago Canyon (16-1-1), which fell last week to now No. 2 Saddleback (15-1-2) in the wild race in the Orange Empire Conference. Cypress (14-1-2), the third member of the OEC in the mix, came in at No. 4, and hosts Santiago Canyon on Tuesday.
The rest of the teams near the top of the weekly poll remain mostly unchanged. Rio Hondo (13-1-1) is at No. 5 in the poll, ahead of their South Coast Conference-North rival, Mt. San Antonio (13-2-4), which sits at No. 10.
Northern schools fill in the six through nine spots in the poll. Two teams who hope to have one more shot at handing Delta its first loss in the Big 8 Conference tournament are part of the mix. No. 6 Folsom Lake (13-1-3) will take on No. 7 Sierra (14-2) in one semifinal Tuesday, while Delta will take on Santa Rosa in the other half of the bracket.
The leaders of the Coast Conference divisions were ranked No. 8 and 9 in the poll. South leader Hartnell (16-2-2) was No. 8, while No. 9 went to North leader San Francisco (14-2).
Inland Empire Athletic Conference leader No. 11 Chaffey rides a nine-game winning streak into its final regular season game Tuesday against second-place College of the Desert.
