Top of CCCWBCA poll is crowded but East L.A. remains No. 1
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – There’s no separation in the loss column among the top four teams in the final CCCWBCA State Poll released on Tuesday but East Los Angeles holds onto the top spot as the season makes the turn for home after turning the calendar to 2017.
East L.A. (14-1), Sierra College (13-1), Mt. San Antonio College (16-1) and College of the Siskiyous (17-1) the first four positions in the poll, respectively, while combining for an impressive 60-4 record. However, the Huskies picked up 11 of 13 first-place votes to stay No. 1 for the third straight week. Sierra, which was third last week, jumped back into second while Mt. SAC received the remaining first-place votes and is third.
College of the Siskiyous tallied 210 points and is the last team to have at least 200 in this week’s rankings. The only two teams in last week’s top 10 to fall were Mt. San Jacinto College (14-2), which went from fifth to seventh, and Pasadena City College, which fell to 11th from its previous 10th spot.
College of the Sequioas (13-3), Palomar College (12-2), Mt. San Jacinto, Diablo Valley College (13-3) and City College of San Francisco (13-3) complete the top 10. There was some mild shakeup among the remaining 10 teams in the poll but, in the end, all 20 teams that were ranked a week ago stayed in the final poll.
Beginning next week, the CCCWBCA will only release north and south regional polls.
