Lewis named 3CFCA Player of the Week, Garcia earns pitching honors

GLENDORA, Calif. - The California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association is pleased to announce its Week 3 State Player and Pitcher of the Week honorees. El Camino College freshman third baseman Diamond Lewis and Palomar College sophomore pitcher Alicia Garcia earned the honors.
Pitcher of the Week – Alicia Garcia – Palomar College
Sophomore pitcher Alicia Garcia was 2-0 in the circle for the state No. 7-ranked Comets. Garcia struck out a total of 19 batters in 10 innings of work and finished with an unblemished ERA after not giving up a run. In a 7-0 victory over Southern California No. 7 Citrus College, Garcia threw a complete game, fanning 14 batters, and allowing just three baserunners on a walk and a pair of hits, two which came in the top of the first inning. Garcia, who prepped at Mira Mesa High School near San Diego, played her freshman season at Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas.
Player of the Week – Diamond Lewis – El Camino College
Freshman third baseman Diamond Lewis had a big week at the plate for the state No. 8 ranked Warriors as they went 4-0. Lewis went 8-for-14 (.571) at the dish, scoring six runs and driving in eight more. Lewis also stole five bases, hit three doubles and had one home run. She extended her hitting streak to 16 games and finished the week with three multi-hit games and three more multi-RBI games. Lewis prepped at Hamilton High School and is from Los Angeles.
