Pasadena Softball Opens With Wild 13-9 Win At AVC

The Pasadena City College softball team opened the 2015 season with a 13-9 triumph at Antelope Valley College Tuesday afternoon.
Derek "Mudder" Blow had a banner collegiate debut as she went 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, a walk, and a solo home run in the sixth inning. Letterman second baseman Justine Zavala batted 2-for-5 and freshman Brianna Lopez was 1-for-3 with two RBI.
The Lancers broke the game open with six runs in the third inning to take a 7-1 lead. They never lost the lead and shut down the Marauders to no runs in the final two innings. Reliever Adriana Fernandez, the third of three PCC hurlers, pitched the final inning.
Coach Monica Tantlinger's Lancers next play five games over two days at the Glendale Tournament Friday-Saturday, Jan. 30-31, at the Glendale Sports Complex. PCC opens with an 11 a.m. game against Ventura and a 2 p.m. contest against Santa Monica on Friday.
