Cuesta wins to stay perfect in conference play
The Cuesta College men's basketball team beat L.A. Pierce 89-76 on Wednesday night in Los Angeles.
Oscar Pedroso led the Cougars (14-7, 3-0 Western State North Division) with 27 points, and Kyle Geer had 16 points and nine rebounds.
Brett Hartshorne had 14 points and was 8 of 8 from the free-throw line.
Pierce's 16 offensive rebounds allowed it to pull within one point in the second half, but the Cougars shot 24 of 31 from the foul line and committed only nine turnovers.
Cuesta women rally to win big at Pierce
The Cuesta women's basketball team overcame a 16-point halftime deficit to beat L.A. Pierce 72-57.
Cuesta tied the score with 9:21 left before ending the game on a 14-2 run. Cuesta (17-3, 2-1 WSN) trailed by as much as 18 in the first half, and was led by Miriam Zabinsky's 29 points and 10 rebounds, and Kaylee Williams' 11 points, 10 rebounds and 10 steals.
