Sierra College announces that the Wolverines are opting in for Spring II season
ROCKLIN - Sierra College last week announced a return of athletics with notification to the CCCAA of intent to opt in to the Spring II seasons.
Spring II sports at Sierra beginning practice include Baseball, Beach Volleyball, Men's Golf, Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving, Softball, Women's Tennis, and Women's Track and Field. Athletes are now reporting to campus for their first practices.
“We’re opting in for Spring II to give as many student athletes as possible the opportunity for practice and competition,” said Rachel Johnson, Sierra College’s Athletic Director and Dean, Kinesiology. “For some sports this may be inter-collegiate competition with a shortened season, and for others this may be scrimmages, but we are excited for the opportunities this will present for our students.”
The level of competition for each respective sport will be dependent on the finding of opportunities to play that meet current safety guidelines, as well as available competition from other programs.
“Sierra’s athletic department, coaches, and staff have been working hard since last March to keep these programs moving forward, and along with finding ways to continue conditioning whenever possible they have also built community engagement programs to keep our student athletes engaged when they can’t be together as a team,” said Sierra College Superintendent/President Willy Duncan. “I look forward to seeing our student athletes compete and build opportunities to move on to the next level.”
Participating student athletes are being notified of schedules by their respective coaches.
