Men’s Tennis Heads to Tennis Championships

CCCAA State Championships Bracket

El Camino College heads to the California Community College Athletic Association Men's Tennis State Championships at the Ojai Valley Tennis Club in Ojai, Calif. on Thursday.

The Warriors wills send three singles competitors and three doubles teams to the championships.

Sophomore Trey Vasquez leads the singles competitors, drawing a bye in the Round of 128. Vasquez went 6-5 in singles play during dual matches on the season. He will face off against Quoc Tran of Orange Coast College. Tran drew the No. 13 seed for Southern California.

Hollard Choi and Connor Davis will also head to Ojai. They each start the tournament in the Round of 128 as Choi takes on Steven Sandoval of Glendale at 8 a.m. The winner of that match will take on Younes Kodiji, the No. 1 seed from Northern California.

Davis also gets started at 8 a.m. on Thursday as he will face Nicola Anderegg of San Diego Mesa. The winner of that match will face Ryo Kojima of Foothill, the No. 5 seed from Northern California.

On the doubles side, Andre Dinh and Seitaro Tanaka are slated to take on Pablo Gentile and Austin Reynolds of Grossmont in the Round of 128 at 1 p.m. The winner will face Rajan Bhatia and Phi Le of Solano College, the No. 8 seed from Northern California.

Choi and partner Stephen Whitman secured a bye and will take on Kien Dang and Steven Vang of Consumnes River, the No. 14 seed from Northern California in the round of 64.

Lastly, Davis and Vasquez will take on Ricardo Campos and Will Molenkamp of Palomar in the Round of 128 at 1 p.m.

The CCCAA Men's Tennis State Championships will run from Thursday through Sunday with singles and doubles champions crowned on Sunday.
