Shamonique Malone-Boyd had a season-high 31 points, 15 rebounds, four steals and two blocks for the Knights, but it came in a losing effort as SDCC suffered an 86-59 home defeat to Southwestern.
Maria Torres, last week's PCAC Women's Athlete of the Week, also had a double-double with 12 points and 17 rebounds.
The Knights started the game with a 3-pointer by Melanie San Nicolas on their first possession, but Southwestern responded with a 26-2 run to take a commanding lead midway through the first half.
The Jaguars, who were led by Kayla Payne's 16 points off the bench, went ahead by as many as 28 points early in the second half. The Knights, however, fought back to make it interesting with an 18-5 run to cut Southwestern's lead to 15 points with 8:33 remaining. Malone-Boyd led that charge by scoring nine points during the run.
Unfortunately for the Knights, it was the closest they would get. Southwestern regained control of the game and pulled away in the final minutes for the 27-point win.
The Knights are now 7-12 overall and 2-2 in the PCAC. Their next game is at home on Friday, Jan. 25 vs. Imperial Valley.
