After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, Natalia Hernandez tied the game with a solo home run. Hernandez leads the Marauders and is tied for the most home runs in the conference with six.
AVC gave up two runs in the fourth inning but responded in the sixth when Jolene Miramontes hit her second homer of the season to center field. The Eagles came right back with two runs in the seventh to take a 5-2 lead. Kylie Zinn narrowed the gap to 5-3 in the bottom of the inning with an RBI groundout, but the Marauders fell short of the comeback.
Helena Loera led in the circle with 4 Ks in three innings. Jolene Miramontes and Annalise Wagner each struck out one in two innings apiece.
AVC will play a doubleheader next against Santiago Canyon in Saturday starting at 12:00 pm.
