SHASTA BEATS SISKIYOUS FOR FIRST GVC WIN

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's women's basketball team picked up its first Golden Valley Conference victory of the season with a 69-63 home win over College of the Siskiyous on Wednesday.

The Knights followed it up with a 65-47 road loss to Butte College on Saturday.

In the victory over Siskiyous, Shasta outscored the Eagles 26-16 in the final period. Four of five Knight starters scored in double figures with Kaleia Mizuta leading the way with 16 points to go with nine rebounds and three steals. Isabela Padilla had 15 points, Megan Collins had a double-double with 13 points and 10 assists and Riley Wallen also had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Amber Wallace chipped in with nine points and seven boards.

Against Butte, Shasta trailed 25-20 at half and was doubled up 18-9 in the fourth quarter. The Knights shot 27 percent from the floor (15 of 55) Wallace paced the Knights with 11 points and eight rebounds. Lexi Robbins scored nine points off the bench and Padilla scored nine points.

Shasta plays three games this week, hosting Feather River College on Wednesday at 3 p.m., plays at Feather River on Friday and at Lassen on Saturday.
