REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's softball team finished the regular season with a sweep of Butte College to capture a share of the Golden Valley Conference title with Feather River.

It's the Knights' second GVC title in the past three years, winning in 2017.

Shasta College split a doubleheader with Feather River, losing 5-4 and winning 9-3 on Monday and swept Butte 2-1 and 7-3.

Shasta improves to 17-3 in GVC and 23-11 overall and awaits the playoff seeding this weekend.

Reilly Rupert took the loss. She struck out five, walked three and gave up five runs on six hits. Shasta totaled five hits, two from Lindsey Beck, who also scored a run, and two Brooke Blades, who added two RBIs. Paige Hunt is 1 for 3 with an RBI.

Carli Lewis was the winning pitcher in the nightcap after striking out five, walking one and allowing three runs on eight hits in a complete game. Erica Parent was 3 for 5 with an RBI and a run, Beck was 3 for 4 with an RBI and a run, Lewis had a two-run double, Blades was 2 for 3 with an RBI, Lewis hit a double and two RBIs, Marissa Hopkins had an RBI double.

The Knights scored two runs in the top of the seventh to pull out the road victory. Reese Bertain had a sac fly to score Rupert and Blades reached on an error, allowing Destinee Baird to score the go-ahead run. Rupert struck out four, walked none and allowed one run on nine hits. Hopkins was 2 for 3 with a double, Parent was 1 for 3, Rupert was 1 for 4 with a run, Blades was 1 for 4 with an RBI and Chloe Luna was 1 for 2 with a double.

In the nightcap, Lewis got the win with five strikeouts, one walk and one run on eight hits to earn the victory. Parent was 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run, Lewis was 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run, Baird was 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI, Blades was 1 for 4 with three RBIs and a run and Beck, Hopkins and Rupert each had a hit and scored a run.
