KNIGHTS DEFEAT MIRACOSTA TO START CONFERENCE PLAY
The Knights snapped a four-game skid on Wednesday night with a a 64-57 home victory over MiraCosta in the opening game of conference play. Freshman Samera Henry came off the bench to lead the Knights with 16 points, seven rebounds, and four steals.

Freshman Evangeline Morga hit 4-of-6 three-pointers and totaled 15 points to go with five rebounds and three assists.
The first quarter ended with the teams even at 11-11, but MiraCosta started the second quarter with a 12-0 run to take their largest lead of the game.
City, however, responded with an 11-2 run and were within a point of the Spartans at the half.
Mikaelah Wieland hit a three-pointer four minutes into the third quarter to give the Knights a 37-35 lead, their first since the first quarter. Later in the third, Morga connected on her second three-pointer to put City ahead 46-41, their largest lead up to that point.
MiraCosta got within a point with 2:51 remaining in the fourth quarter, but a jump shot from Henry, a three-pointer from Morga, and a jumper from Andrea Wright put the Knights ahead by eight with :51 seconds left.
The Knights outrebounded MiraCosta, 48-30. City had a 22-4 edge on offensive rebounds which led to a 23-6 advantage on second chance points.
The Knights' next game is also at home against Mesa on Friday, Jan. 8 at 5 p.m.
