Women Poloists Go 3-2 Over Their Opening Weekend

Women's Water Polo split the final day of the Central Coast Classic to finish the first weekend of the season 3-2 overall.  The Cougars opened the season with a loss to Golden West in Thursday's pre-tournament game but bounced back to sweep the first day of "The Classic" with wins over Diablo Valley and Santa Monica.  This morning the Cougars hit a road bump with a loss against Merced, 14-6, but closed out the tournament with a comfortable victory over Modesto, 17-13.  On the weekend, Cougars were led by Returning Freshmen Anna Kreowski and Chloe Porter.  The duo combined for 35 goals in last year's abbreviated seven-game season and notched 32 goals in four games this weekend, despite Porter spending portions of the last three games in the goal.

Cuesta heads to the Bay Area for the West Valley Tournament next weekend.  On Friday, the Cougars will get another run at Merced (4:10) and also face Foothill (6:30) to end the first day.  On Saturday, Cuesta plays San Joaquin Delta (11:30) and has a re-match with Modesto (4:10).  The Cougars 2021 competitive season officially ended on the second day of the  West Valley Tournament and a complete four-game run next weekend will mark the most games for Cuesta Women's Water Polo since their pre-pandemic 2019 playoff season.
