Stockton, Calif. - In a rare Sunday doubleheader, the No. 9 Butte softball team split at Delta, falling 9-0 in five innings in the first game before rebounding with an 8-3 win.
Sophomores Hayley Sites and Grace Stearns earned the team's two hits in the first game, while freshman Avery Jolley (8-4) was charged the complete-game loss in the circle.
Sophomore Alexis Detwiler led the Roadrunners at the plate in game two, going 2-for-4 with a double and a triple with three RBI. Freshmen Ella Jolley and Kylee Richhart both earned a home run with E. Jolley posting a 2-for-3 outing with two RBI and Richhart going 3-for-4 with three RBI.
Sophomore Maggie Smith (11-2) picked up the win in the circle, facing 30 batters and striking out three.
Butte (23-6, 10-0) resumes GVC play, hosting Lassen on Wednesday, Apr. 5 for a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.
