Sac City beats Shasta 94-79 (OT) in the 1st round of the Solano Tournament

Panthers make furious comeback and win in overtime!

 

Down 38-32 at the half, Sac City stormed back to take a 52-45 lead with 13:30 to play on a Bret Lynch 3 with an assist from Mike Wadsworth.  Shasta responded with a 14-0 run over the next 5 minutes, until Alex Tsverov hit a wing 3 on an assist from Lynch.  With 3:30 to go the Panthers still trailed 67-60.  Wadsworth then went 4/4 from the free throw line and added a layup and 2 offensive rebounds before a Lynch spin move in the lane cut the lead to 69-68 with a minute to play.  Shasta responded by making two free throws to go up by 3 with 45 seconds to play when Wadsworth was fouled on a three pointer with 16 seconds to play.  He made the first 2 and Jhalen Lumpkins rebounded the miss, which led to Lynch's 2 free throws to give the Panthers the lead.  David King stole the inbounds pass and hit 2 free throws to put Sac City up by 3 with 6.7 seconds to play.  Shasta responded with a three at the buzzer to send the game to overtime tied at 74.  Sac City won the jump ball, Lynch assisted on a Gabe Serna corner 3, K.J. Duronslet hit a turnaround jumper, and the Panthers never looked back, outscoring Shasta 20-5 to take a 94-79 win.  Lynch led the Panthers with 32 points and 7 assists, while Wadsworth had 16 points and 8 rebounds.  Serna contributed 14 points, while Duronslet scored 12 and had 6 rebounds despite playing less than 20 minutes due to foul trouble.  Lumpkins led the team with 11 rebounds and added 2 of the team's 15 steals.
