Men's Basketball earned the #22-seed in the 2023 CCCAA Regional Playoffs and faced #11 Mt San Jacinto in a first round road game on Wednesday. The host Eagles jumped on the travel-weary Cougars right off the bus and built a 17-point lead in the first quarter of the game. The score bounced around for the next 30-minuutes with the Eagles booting it up to 32 points with just over ten minutes left in the contest, but the Cougars did not go down without a fight. Cuesta went on a 30-17 run to close the game, before time ran out on their season, 89-72. Sophomore Forward Mason Romano led the Cougars with 23 points and a game-high 15 rebounds, while Freshman Guard Drew Ardouin and 2022 All-WSC Forward Juani Dassie each netted 14 points to lead the Cougars. Sophomore Forward Reumang Emagna (pict) came off the bench to score six points and added game-highs with five assists and four steals. The Cougars reached the post-season for the first time since the pandemic and closed the season with a 15-14 overall record.
The 2023 All-Western State Conference selection will be announced at the conclusion on the playoffs.
