Eight Roadrunners Reach the End Zone in No. 8 Football's 69-0 Rout of Siskiyous

Weed, Calif. - Eight different Butte football players reached the end zone in the No. 8 Roadrunners' 69-0 rout of Siskiyous on Saturday afternoon.

The Roadrunners were led by sophomore Jailen Hammer's two touchdowns, including a 47-yard reception to open the game. 

Sophomore Tanner Hughes quickly followed with a one-yard touchdown run before connecting with Hammer again to close out the first quarter. On the day, Hughes went 15-for-21 for 272 yards, five touchdowns - four passing and one rushing.

All three Butte quarterbacks saw the field with sophomore Hunter Povlsen posting a 2-for-4 day with a 17-yard touchdown pass to sophomore Zach Woodall. Freshman Rieger Sayre got in on the action, racing down the field for an 85-yard score. 

Freshmen Landon Cooper and Deremy Stubbs both earned a touchdown on seven-yard and 52-yard receptions, respectively, from Hughes. And freshman Shavon Gramps-Green rounded out the touchdowns with a 36-yard run to close out the game.

Defensively, freshman Aiden Sullivan posted a game-high eight tackles, five solo, with four tackles for loss for five yards. Freshman Alex Cardona counted the team's lone sack, tallying 11 yards, and forcing the only fumble of the game. Overall on the day, Cardona had 2.5 tackles for loss for 13 yards. 

Sophomore Dante Jackson counted a pair of field goals with a perfect 9-for-9 outing in extra points. He averaged 50.4 yards on his 12 kickoffs and racked up a 40-yard punt that dropped in on the five-yard line.

Butte (6-3, 4-1) hosts Shasta on Saturday, Nov. 12 for the regular season finale. The team's sophomores will be recognized prior to kickoff with other events taking place throughout the contest in honor of Veterans Day.
