Falcons, Hawks split doubleheader

Falcons, Hawks split doubleheader

In Saturday's opener, the Hawks jumped ahead 2-0 in the second inning.  But the Falcons took the lead with four runs in the fourth on an RBI double by Chad Leonard and a 3-run home run by sophomore outfielder Hunter Dunithan.  With the game tied 4-4 in the seventh,  sophomore first baseman Troy Shields smashed a 2-run homer to left field, his third of the season.  In the eighth inning, freshman outfielder Jeff Bauser drove in two more runs with a double down the left field line to make it 8-5.  That would be all the scoring as Chase Zeinen shut out the Hawks on one hit over the final two innings to earn the save.

In Saturday's second game, the Hawks scored early and often on their way to an 11-2, seven-inning victory.  Outfielder Jeff Bauser continued his hot streak with two more doubles in three at bats, while Khale Good added a triple in the losing effort.

The Falcons will host two 3-games series over the final two weekends of their season.  Sac City will visit this Friday and Saturday, then American River will play here on Memorial Day weekend.
