Citrus College took on the top team in the Western State Conference-South and walked away with a point, 1-1.
The Owls move to 2-10-1 on the year and 0-1-1 in conference. The Marauders boast an 8-2-4, 1-0-2 record.
Luis Chavez Esparza found the back of the net in the 37th minute to put the Owls on the board first. After the Marauders had a free kick just inside Citrus' half, the Owls cleared it and Takechika Ito took off with one defender to beat. He passed it over to Chavez Esparza, who dribbled past the goalkeeper and tapped it into the net.
AVC managed to sneak one in with three minutes left to play to even the score 1-1.
Ezequiel Jimenez made three saves in goal for Citrus.
The Owls head to Bakersfield College on Friday, kicking off at 4:00 p.m.
