West Valley picked up its sixth straight win and remained perfect in the Coast-North Conference with a 7-0 blanking of Chabot College Thursday at Mission College. The victory - WVC's 11th in 12 games - moved the Vikings to 14-8 overall, 5-0 in conference.

The Vikings outhit the Gladiators (11-8, 2-2) 11-5 and received a strong outing from starter Eric Murchison, who gave up only a pair of singles to Justin Durflinger, while striking out six and issuing three walks in six innings of work.

An RBI-double from Henry Wright followed by an RBI triple from Jaden Mazzaferro gave WVC all the runs they would need in a three-run second inning. Curran Ozawa-Burns clubbed his seventh home run of the season - his fourth round-tripper in five games - to make it 5-0 after five. Evan Meier added an insurance run with a solo HR in the bottom of the eighth.

In addition to Murchison, three Viking relief hurlers combined to keep the Gladiators off the scoreboard. Jalen Jagdeo, Lincoln Juarez and Roman Connolly, pitched the seventh, eighth and ninth frames, respectively, and each gave up one hit, with no walks and one K each.

Mazzaferro stayed hot with a 3-4, one-RBI outing, while the torrid Ozawa-Burns finished 2-3 with three RBI. Cole Murchison and Meier also had two-hit afternoons.
