No. 13 Hawks earn first conference win, edge Skyline 2-1

Freshman Owen Svantner's goal in the 70th minute proved to be the game-winner for the No. 13 state-ranked Las Positas College men's soccer team in a 2-1 victory over visiting Skyline College on Friday.

The Hawks picked up their first Coast Conference win of the season, improving to 1-1-1 and 7-2-2 overall.

Griffin Lafleur gave LPC a 1-0 lead with his first goal off the season off the assist from Adolfo Trujillo in the 30th minute. The score remained 1-0 at halftime and into the second.

Skyline (1-6-1, 1-1-1 CC) got the equalizer in the 55th minute thanks to a goal by Ryan Carney. But Svantner broke free for the go-ahead goal 15 minutes later off the assists from Tyler Martinez and Trujillo.

Garret Aslup and Miguel Cortez combined for the win in goal for Las Positas.

The Hawks return to action on Tuesday (Oct. 12) when they begin the first of three straight away games. LPC is at Foothill College to kick off the stretch.
