Women's Volleyball Wins Final Home Game!
San Diego, CA- Tonight in the Hourglass Fieldhouse our San Diego Miramar College Women's Volleyball team hosted Cuyamaca College Coyotes for a 5pm match in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference. This was also the final home game of the season and the Jets celebrated their only sophomore player: Kady Chu. Coach Mark Smith began sophomore night with a heartfelt thank you to Kady's parents for allowing her to participate.
Five o'clock struck and the referee whistled for the first serve of match. The Jets struggled to find their groove in set one falling to Cuyamaca 15-25. The teams switched sides, and set two was underway. Miramar was able to find a rhythm and push forward hanging with the Coyotes. Jets finished set two winning 25-22. Set three took off and there was a lot of back and forth rallies for the point. It came down to who was going to make a mistake first! Ultimately, the Jets fought and won set three by a narrow two points; 25-23! Miramar needed to win set four to seal the win for the team; Cuyamaca did not let that happen easily. Each point played for set four was fought out tough by both teams. The Jets had a five point lead mid-way through the game and could not hold on to it. The Coyotes came back to tie the game 22-22. The energy in the gym was at an all-time high and the Jets toughed it out. At game point, 24-23, the Miramar served the ball and the Coyotes were unable to finish the play, hitting the ball out of the court! The Jets WON! This team has been in the hunt for a win and were able to pull together and finish the match strong! Congratulations Jets!
