Mendo gets revenge, beats Hawks

LPC bowed out of the John Hogue Memorial Tournament on Friday, losing its consolation-round game 82-80 to host Mendocino in Ukiah.

Mendocino (2-3) was able to avenge an 81-65 loss to the Hawks on Nov. 5 in the Tony Costello Tip-Off Classic. LPC, meanwhile, falls to 3-5 and is riding a two-game losing streak.

The Hawks led late against the Eagles, but weren't able to close out a victory. Kameron Johnson had 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for LPC. McKayle Harnell finished with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Ellis Salahuddin and Brandon Eboigbodin added 10 points apiece.

Cosumnes River will play Modesto for the tournament title at 5 p.m. Saturday. Cosumnes defeated Redwoods 100-92 in one semifinal game Friday, while Modesto topped Lassen 92-90.

The Hawks' next game is Dec. 3 against Sequoias at 6 p.m. in the first round of the Diablo Valley Tournament in Pleasant Hill. Sequoias beat LPC in the opening round of the Northern California playoffs last season.
