Coach Javier addressing the team following a hard fought victory. 8/30/22

The LACC Mens Soccer Team get first win of the season against a tough Santa Monica College Team

Returning for their second match of their second season as a soccer college program, the LACC Men's Team netted their first win at a faster pace compared to their year prior. The match up was against the Santa Monica Corsairs who would strike first after 30 minutes of both teams studying each other and Santa Monica taking advantage of an LACC error to go up 1-0. The Cubs would respond as captain Jonathan Garcia would lead an attack that would end with Fernando Avina setting Nico Magana for a tying goal. The score would be 1-1 in the half and promised for an exciting second half.

The second half would be very competitive as both teams had their chances, but it would be Sophmore Ryan Medina who would lead the attack for LACC and serve a great ball to Edison Lopez who would net a beautiful finish in the 70th minute to put LACC up 2-1. The LACC would continue this momentum and put in a daggering shot from 30 yards out with Axel Miranda to put the score 3-1. LACC would have a few more chances with this momentum and miss a penalty shot with Fernando Avina hitting the post and game ending with a score of 3-1. The LACC cubs improve their record to 1 win and 1 loss.
