LACC vs Victor Valley College
Cubs celebrate a goal vs. Victor Valley College

Cubs extend winning streak to 3

The LACC Men's Soccer Team continue with a positive march in preseason with another convincing victory over Victor Valley College. The Cubs went on the attack early and were able to put in their first goal on a combination of sophomores, were Andrew Luna sailed a big cross to Axel Miranda for the one time finish. The Cubs would not slow down, freshman Eduardo Campos would finish a corner kick rebound assist from Jonathan Garcia for the 2-0 lead. The attack would grow strong once again as freshman Alex Ruiz would find Edison Lopez who would beat a defender and the keeper with a beautiful shot giving LACC the 3-0 lead and Edison his 3rd goal of the season. As the first half started slowing down due to the heat of the match and the heat of the day, freshman Armando Villegas was able to sail a striking shot through Victor Valley's defensive wall on a 25 yard free kick that would beat the goalkeeper and give LACC the 4-0 lead. With both teams playing under extreme heat conditions it looked as play would slow down once again but the games' energy never dropped and LACC was able to score one more goal behind freshman Fernando Avina, as he headed a chip assist from Armando Villegas with minutes left in the first half.

The second half would go on to see a more balanced game as Victor Valley would come back more energized and the match intensify even more from the first half. Both teams would go on to have their opportunities at goal but neither would finish and the game would end, with LACC winning 5-0 to bring their record to 3 wins and 1 loss and 2 shutouts in a row for both freshmen Goalkeepers Fidencio Flores and Edward Fletes. LACC will go on to travel to Glendale College this Friday September 9th, at 6pm for their first away game of the season.
